A new concept for this winter! Working on the basis that it's always snowing somewhere, this week has no fixed destination! Travel to Geneva airport where I'll meet you with my minibus and we'll head to whichever part of the Western Alps (or beyond if need be!) has the best fresh snow conditions. Whether this is a big-name resort like Tignes or Verbier, a micro-destination like Sainte Foy or Areches-Beaufort or lesser-known freeride destination like Monterosa or Val d'Anniviers. We'll make the decision just a few days in advance based on the latest snowfalls and weather forecasts. Guaranteed powder is a strong statement, but this is probably about the best chance!
Program:
Fly to Geneva on 4th Jan. Meet the group and travel in the team minibus to our chosen resort. 5 days of guided riding across the week (on the best weather /snow days!). Minibus transfer back to Geneva on 11th Jan.
Accommodation:
Unknown. To be confirmed a few days in advance! Accommodation will be based on twin-sharing. Due to the last-minute nature of the trip and the wide-range of possible resorts, we may need to compromise on layouts, proximity to lifts and level of bling but I'll work hard to look for the best option!
Meals:
Not included. Due to the last-minute nature of the trip, a fully-catered booking adds an extra level of complication. We'll self-cater or go out for pizza! If there is an affordable catered option available, this can be discussed when we finalise plans.
TRAVEL:
Fly to Geneva on Saturday 4th Jan. Meet the group at the airport and travel by minibus to resort (transfer included).
Riding level:
This course is for intermediate and up level riders with some backcountry experience. You should have at least 8-10 weeks riding experience and have at least some experience of enjoying turns in off-piste conditions.
fitness level:
You should have a reasonable level of fitness as we will very likely do some hiking during the week in order to find fresh lines. Usually about 1hr or 300m maximum.
Equipment required:
Standard snowboard gear. Avalanche safety equipment loan is included in the course price if you don't have your own. If we need snowshoe or splitboard gear, this can be rented locally.
additional costs (not included):
Flights, Lift Pass, Meals
