A new trip for this year! The steeps week is a backcountry snowboard camp aimed at targeting steeper and more technical terrain. A chance to get in touch with the gnarlier side of snowboarding. The trip will involve riding different venues around the Tarentaise valley in order to access the best snow and the most interesting terrain depending on the weather and snow conditions.
Riding technical terrain in a big group gets complicated fast. Too many people in tight terrain means a lot of time to ride sections safely and means more chance that a split in levels will affect the group dynamic and the choice of terrain. For all these reasons, the steeps week is limited to 4 riders only. This nudges the price up a little, but it's worth it for a more flowing and safer riding experience.
The intention is to access most of the terrain using lifts and hiking, but we may do some splitboarding if necesary to find good snow and terrain.
While most of my courses can accommodate a mix of levels, this week is clearly aimed at stronger riders. Ideally, you would have been on one of my trips before (or a similar trip with another coach) and be familiar with and comfortable on the steeper terrain. As an example, being comfortable on the Fogliettaz drop-in or the Cross couloirs at Sainte Foy would be a good level for the trip.
